Kistler force measurement technology is used predominantly in production, vehicle engineering and biomechanics. Application know-how, our own test rigs and last but not least close liaison with our key customers make us the partner of choice worldwide in these demanding markets. In addition to these traditional applications, however, there are numerous different situations where Kistler technology plays a part in solving challenging force measurement problems.

Wherever small or large forces in one of more directions have to be measured, and as far as possible installation of the sensor should not alter the properties of a component or member, Kistler is the company to work with. Piezoelectric measurement is the only principle that makes it possible to meet, for example, the requirement of a high system natural frequency.

The virtually unlimited life of the Kistler force sensors is another strong argument for us being the preferred solver of difficult measurement problems.

Kistler measuring platforms can be used in biomechanics to record minute variations and asymmetries of forces in walking and running. For example, they make it possible to measure impact forces after an Achilles tendon operation, to analyse progress in the use of a prosthesis or to optimise load compensation in cases of damaged joints. Kistler measuring systems permit all kinds of gait analysis to support diagnoses in orthopaedics, prosthetics and rehabilitation.

Kistler offers a whole range of biomechanical measuring systems for routine use in clinical gait analysis. These are characterised by the ease of installation of the measuring platforms with their piezoelectric force sensor and the user-friendly operation of BioWare, the related software program for digital signal recording and analysis. This is a winning combination, leaving the user free to concentrate on patient diagnosis without having to bother about complications of installation and operation.
